Iolite is the gem variety of the mineral cordierite. It is a very pretty violet blue color. It is a pleochroic stone making three colors visable when viewing. You will see violet blue, yellow gray and a light blue. It can be mistaken for Tanzanite but is a very affordable alternative. This pear shaped stone is x mm and is carats.
